My Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Died and, it’s a good thing it was not Jailbroken.

galaxy_note_deadMy Samsung Galaxy Note 2 died and it’s a good thing it was not Jailbroken.  I received a brief phone call at 4 am.  The phone was charging when I took the call and still when I ended the conversation.

But by 7:00 am, the phone was dead.  Tried to recharge…dead. Took the battery out, put it back in…dead!  Tested the charging cable with another phone…positive!  Tried the Galaxy again…dead! Finally, I called Verizon.

Talked with Angela (not her real name), TSR for Verizon.  She was excellent. I now know that if you hold the power, home button and volume up buttons together you can “reboot” the phone.  In my case, it did not work.  Angela tried everything, according to the book.  Nothing worked.  The only alternative was to take it to a Verizon Retail store.  I did not have to find a “service center,” thank goodness.  She assured me that Verizon would not charge me anything to either get it repaired or replaced. The phone comes with a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty.

verizon_crew_250So I pack up my Galaxy Note 2 and headed over to the Cedar Hill Verizon.  The crew there was wonderful.  Katrina looked at Angela’s notes in the computer, without asking  me a gillion questions or going through another phone testing. They ordered me a new phone and gave me a loaner Blackberry (with a roller ball) until my new Galaxy arrived, two business days.

While my Galaxy Note 2 is less than 30 days out of the box, the KEY point to receiving a replacement was that my phone was not jailbroken! When you invest at this level, buy from the store, not ebay! Use ebay for accessories!
